Roland-Garros: Samsonova breezes past Anisimova to reach third round

Russian Liudmila Samsonova, the No 17 seed, beat American Amanda Anisimova 6-2, 6-1 to move into the third round of Roland-Garros in Paris.

Samsonova, ranked No 17, will play the winner of the match between Spaniard Cristina Bucsa and Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto next.

In the previous round, the Russian beat Pole Magda Linette (6-1, 6-1).

Anisimova, ranked No 231, won against Slovak qualifier Rebecca Sramkova (7-6 (6), 6-4) during the first round.
