Roland-Garros: Ruud reaches back-to-back quarter-finals in Paris
The Swede will play the winner of the match between Dane Holger Rune, the No 6 seed, and Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the No 23 seed, in the next round
Norway’s Casper Ruud, the No 4 seed, moved into the last eight of Roland-Garros with a hard fought straight sets win over Chile’s Nicolas Jarry in Paris on Monday.
The 2022 French Open runner-up came from a break down in the second and third sets to win 7-6 (3), 7-5, 7-5 in three hours and 20 minutes.

Ruud, ranked No 4, will face the winner of the match between Dane Holger Rune, the No 6 seed, and Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the No 23 seed, next.
Ahead of his victory, the Norwegian defeated Swede qualifier Elias Ymer (6-4, 6-3, 6-2), Italian qualifier Giulio Zeppieri (6-3, 6-2, 4-6, 7-5) and Chinese Zhizhen Zhang (4-6, 6-4, 6-1, 6-4).
Jarry, ranked No 35, won against Hugo Dellien (6-4, 6-4, 6-2), American Tommy Paul, the No 16 seed (3-6, 6-1, 6-4, 7-5) and American Marcos Giron (6-2, 6-3, 6-7 (7), 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
