Rublev rolls into Roland-Garros third round

The constant rain at Roland-Garros did not give Andrey Rublev any trouble on Wednesday afternoon — and neither did Pedro Martinez.

While all of the outer-court matches were cancelled because of the bad weather, Rublev wasted no time booking his spot in the third round with a 6-3, 6-4, 6-3 victory over Martinez. Under the closed roof on Court Suzanne-Lenglen, the Russian advanced in two hours and one minute.

Rublev, ranked No 6, will next face the winner of a second-round showdown between French wildcard Alexandre Muller and Italian Matteo Arnaldi.

Ahead of his victory, the sixth seed defeated Japanese Taro Daniel (6-2, 6-7 (3), 6-3, 7-5).

Martinez, ranked No 48, previously beat Argentine Thiago Agustin Tirante (5-7, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3).
