Did Rinderknech injure himself at Roland-Garros?

Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry advanced to the third round of Roland-Garros when Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech retired on Thursday evening at Roland-Garros in Paris.

Rinderknech led 6-3, 7-6 (8), 1-6, 0-5 when he withdrew from the match.

It seems as though Rinderknech’s injury may have stemmed from an outburst in the fourth set, when he lashed out and kicked an object at the back of the court after losing a point.

From this moment on, he showed pain in his foot, was treated, and eventually retired injured.

The Frenchman will face Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 7 seed, next.

In the previous round of the Roland-Garros 2024, Arthur Rinderknech beat Australian wildcard Adam Walton (6-2, 6-4, 7-5).

The Argentinian edged out Frenchman Arthur Cazaux (3-6, 6-2, 6-1, 6-4) in the previous round of the Roland-Garros 2024.
