Roland-Garros: Pegula makes third round
Jessica Pegula edged out Anhelina Kalinina 6-1, 5-7, 6-4 on Thursday. She’ll play Slovenian Tamara Zidansek, the No 24 seed, in the next round
American Jessica Pegula, the No 11 seed, advanced to the third round of Roland-Garros by edging out Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina 6-1, 5-7, 6-4 at Stade Roland-Garros in Paris on Thursday.
Pegula, ranked No 11, will play Slovenian Tamara Zidansek, the No 24 seed, next.
The American won against Chinese Qiang Wang (6-2, 6-4) in the previous round of the French Open, while Kalinina, ranked No 36, benefited from the abandonment of American qualifier Hailey Baptiste (5-2).
