Roland-Garros: Nishioka moves into third round

Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka, the No 27 seed, moved into the third round of Roland-Garros by edging out Australian Max Purcell 4-6, 6-2, 7-5, 6-4 at Stade Roland-Garros in Paris on Thursday.

Nishioka, ranked No 33, will play the winner of the match between Argentinian Guido Pella and Brazilian qualifier Thiago Seyboth Wild next.

Ahead of his victory, the Japanese produced a stunning comeback to beat American J.J. Wolf (1-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3).

Purcell, ranked No 68, edged out Jordan Thompson (7-5, 1-6, 6-4, 6-4) in the previous round.
