Roland-Garros: Mertens reaches third round, to meet Pegula next
Elise Mertens defeated Camila Osorio 6-3, 7-6 (3) on Wednesday. She’ll play American Jessica Pegula, the No 3 seed, in the next round
Belgian Elise Mertens, the No 28 seed, advanced to the third round of Roland-Garros by defeating Colombian lucky loser Camila Osorio 6-3, 7-6 (3) at Stade Roland-Garros in Paris on Wednesday.
Mertens, ranked No 28, will face American Jessica Pegula, the No 3 seed, next.
In the previous round of the French Open, the Belgian won against Slovak lucky loser Viktoria Hruncakova (6-1, 6-4).
Osorio, ranked No 86, edged out Romanian Ana Bogdan (3-6, 6-3, 7-5) during the first round of the French Open.
