Roland-Garros: Mertens books spot in third round
Elise Mertens won against Petra Martic 6-4, 6-3 on Thursday evening. She’ll face Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the No 4 seed, in the next round

Belgian Elise Mertens, the No 25 seed, defeated Croat Petra Martic 6-4, 6-3 to move into the third round of Roland-Garros in Paris.
Mertens, ranked No 27, will face Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the No 4 seed, next.
The Belgian won against Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle (6-3, 7-6 (8)) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Martic, ranked No 81, won against French wildcard Kristina Mladenovic (6-4, 6-4).
