Roland-Garros: Medvedev moves into third round thanks to Kecmanovic’s retirement
Daniil Medvedev benefited from the abandonment of Miomir Kecmanovic (6-1, 5-0) on Thursday
Russian Daniil Medvedev, the No 5 seed, reached the third round of Roland-Garros when Serb Miomir Kecmanovic retired on Thursday at Roland-Garros in Paris.
Medvedev, ranked No 5, led 6-1, 5-0 when Kecmanovic, ranked No 57, pulled out at Roland-Garros in Paris on Thursday.
The Russian will play the winner of the match between Argentinian Mariano Navone, the No 31 seed, and Tomas Machac next.
Ahead of his victory, Daniil Medvedev beat German Dominik Koepfer (6-3, 6-4, 5-7, 6-3). The Serb edged out Brazilian qualifier Thiago Monteiro (6-2, 6-1, 4-6, 7-5) in the previous round of the Roland-Garros 2024.
