Martina Trevisan beat Daria Saville 6-3, 6-4 on Friday to reach the fourth round at the French Open for the second time in three years
Italian Martina Trevisan advanced to the fourth round of Roland-Garros after defeating Australian wildcard Daria Saville 6-3, 6-4 in Paris on Friday.
Trevisan, ranked No 59, will play the winner of the third-round clash German Angelique Kerber, the No 21 seed, and Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich next.
Trevsian, who reached the quarter-finals at the French Open in 2020, has not dropped a set in her first three rounds in Paris this year. She came into the tournament winning the WTA event in Rabat, Morocco last week and extended her winning streak to eight matches.
The win will also see her break into the world’s top 50 for the first time when the new rankings are published after the French Open.
