Roland-Garros: Korda earns clash with Alcaraz

American Sebastian Korda, the No 27 seed, beat Frenchman Richard Gasquet 7-6 (5), 6-3, 6-3 to reach the third round at Roland-Garros in Paris on Wednesday evening.

Korda, ranked No 30, will face No 6 seed Carlos Alcaraz next.

“It’s not physical at all, he was just stronger than I was and he probably got a little bit lucky in the tiebreaker and maybe I could have put him under more pressure, but I think he was just a better player today”, said Gasquet, aged 36.

In the previous round of the French Open, the 21-year-old American won against Australian John Millman (6-1, 7-5, 7-6 [6]), while Gasquet, ranked No 70, defeated South African Lloyd George Harris (6-1, 6-3, 6-4).
