Roland-Garros: Khachanov reaches last 16 after battle with Norrie
Karen Khachanov edged out Cameron Norrie 6-2, 7-5, 5-7, 6-4 on Friday evening and will face the winner of the next match between American Sebastian Korda, the No 27 seed, and Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the No 6 seed, in the next round.
Russian Karen Khachanov, the No 21 seed, advanced to the last 16 of Roland-Garros by edging out No 10 seed Cameron Norrie 6-2, 7-5, 5-7, 6-4.
Khachanov, ranked No 25, will now play the hotly touted Carlos Alcaraz, the No 6 seed.
The Russian edged out Portuguese qualifier Nuno Borges (6-3, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4) and won against Hugo Dellien (4-6, 6-4, 7-6 [1], 6-3) in the previous rounds, while Norrie, ranked No 11, defeated French wildcard Manuel Guinard (7-5, 6-2, 6-0) and Australian qualifier Jason Murray Kubler (6-3, 6-4, 6-3).
