American Madison Keys, the No 14 seed, defeated Egyptian Mayar Sherif 6-0, 7-6 (7) to move into the third round of Roland-Garros at Roland-Garros in Paris on Thursday evening.
Keys, ranked No 12, will play the winner of the match between Italian qualifier Sara Errani and American Emma Navarro, the No 22 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the American won against Mexican Renata Zarazua (6-3, 6-2).
Sherif, ranked No 53, beat Chinese Yue Yuan (6-1, 6-3) in the previous round.
