Roland-Garros: Kasatkina moves into last eight
Daria Kasatkina beaten Camila Giorgi 6-2, 6-2 on Monday. She’ll face the winner of the next match between Russian Veronika Kudermetova, the No 29 seed, and American Madison Keys, the No 22 seed, in the next round.
Russian Daria Kasatkina, the No 20 seed, defeated Italian Camila Giorgi, the No 28 seed, 6-2, 6-2 to reach the last eight of the French Open, on the court Suzanne-Lenglen at Stade Roland-Garros in Paris on Monday.
Kasatkina, ranked No 20, will play the winner of the next match between Russian Veronika Kudermetova, the No 29 seed, and American Madison Keys, the No 22 seed, happening on the Philippe-Chatrier.
Daria Kasatkina is one of the most efficient player on the Tour right now. She has won nine of her last 11 matches, losing only against Sara Sorribes Tormo in Madrid and Ons Jabeur in Rome.
Kasatkina back at the quarter level
She’s back at the quarter-final level in Grand Slam for the first time since 2018, when she reached that stage in Paris and at Wimbledon.
Ahead of her victory, the Russian won against Slovak lucky loser Rebecca Sramkova (6-2, 6-0), Mexican qualifier Fernanda Contreras Gomez (6-0, 6-3) and American Shelby Rogers (6-3, 6-2).
Giorgi, ranked No 30, won against Chinese Shuai Zhang (3-6, 6-2, 6-2), Kazakh Yulia Putintseva (6-3, 7-5) and Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, the No 7 seed (4-6, 6-1, 6-0) earlier in the tournament.
