Jabeur downs Tauson, to face Gauff in Roland-Garros quarter-finals

Ons Jabeur has been a Grand Slam quarter-final machine in the proverbial second half of her tennis career. The 29-year-old added another one to her haul when she defeated Clara Tauson 6-4, 6-4 in the round of 16 at Roland-Garros on Sunday afternoon.

Jabeur is through to her seventh slam quarter-final, all of which have come since the start of the 2020 season. The Tunisian will face Coco Gauff on Tuesday.

Jabber’s trek to the last eight also includes victories over American wildcard Sachia Vickery (6-3, 6-2), Colombian Camila Osorio (6-3, 1-6, 6-3) and Canadian Leylah Fernandez, the No 31 seed (6-4, 7-6 (5)).

It was still a productive event for the 72nd-ranked Tauson, who knocked off German Tatjana Maria (6-2, 6-3), Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the No 9 seed (7-6 (4), 4-6, 6-3) and American Sofia Kenin (6-2, 7-5).
