Holger Rune scored a straight sets win over Henri Laaksonen to reach the third round of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career
Danish teen Holger Rune reached the third round of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time in his young career after a straight sets win over Swiss Henri Laaksonen at Roland-Garros.
The 19-year-old Rune needed just under two hours to beat Laaksonen 6-2, 6-3, 6-3 in Paris on Thursday, two days after upsetting 14th seed Denis Shapovalov in straight sets.
Holger Rune, ranked a career-high No 40 in the world, will play either Frenchman Hugo Gaston or Argentinian lucky loser Pedro Cachin and Frenchman for a place in the fourth round.
