Roland-Garros: Haddad Maia moves into third round
Beatriz Haddad Maia edged out Diana Shnaider 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 on Thursday and will face the winner of the match between Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, the No 23 seed, and German Anna-Lena Friedsam in the next round
Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 14 seed, edged out Russian Diana Shnaider 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 to reach the third round of Roland-Garros at Stade Roland-Garros in Paris on Thursday.
Haddad Maia, ranked No 14, will face the winner of the match between Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, the No 23 seed, and German Anna-Lena Friedsam next.
The Brazilian won against German Tatjana Maria (6-0, 6-1) in the previous round of the French Open.
During the first round of the French Open, Shnaider, ranked No 108, defeated Canadian Rebecca Marino (6-3, 7-5).
