Roland-Garros: Former finalist Sloane Stephens advances to second round
Sloane Stephens defeated Jule Niemeier in three sets and will next meet Romania’s Sorana Cirstea in the second round of Roland-Garros

American Sloane Stephens moved into the second round of Roland-Garros by beating German Jule Niemeier 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 at the French Open in Paris on Sunday.
Sloane Stephens, ranked No 53 and a finalist in 2018, will play Romanian Sorana Cirstea next.
Niemeier, ranked No 103 in the world, had come through the qualifying draw, winning three matches to reach the main draw.

- Maria Camila Osorio Serrano beat Harmony Tan: 6-4, 6-3
- Sorana Cirstea beat Tatjana Maria: 6-3, 6-3
