Roland-Garros: Fernandez eases past Wang to move into third round
Leylah Fernandez won against Xiyu Wang 6-3, 6-4 on Thursday evening and will face Tunisian Ons Jabeur, the No 8 seed, in the next round
Canadian Leylah Fernandez, the No 31 seed, moved into the third round of Roland-Garros by beating Chinese Xiyu Wang 6-3, 6-4 in Paris.
Fernandez, ranked No 34, will face Tunisian Ons Jabeur, the No 8 seed, next.
The 21-year-old Canadian won against French wildcard Jessika Ponchet (6-2, 6-0) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Wang, ranked No 61, defeated Zhuoxuan Bai (7-5, 6-7 (4), 6-3).
