Roland-Garros: Cachin comes through five-setter with Thiem to make second round

Argentinian Pedro Cachin won against Austrian Dominic Thiem 6-3, 6-2, 6-7 (1), 4-6, 6-2 to advance to the second round of Roland-Garros at Stade Roland-Garros in Paris on Monday afternoon.

“At the beginning he was playing much better than me”, Thiem commented. “I think on the second set I had my chances, and I start to improve my tennis, but I was not playing too many matches. I was losing too many matches the last few months. So at the end of the second set with the chances I didn’t take, maybe the confidence, maybe no rhythm, a few things.

“But I have confidence in five sets, and I think at the start of the third he gave me a few opportunities to keep fighting for the match, and I took it.
