Croatian qualifier Borna Gojo advanced to the second round of Roland-Garros by beating Italian lucky loser Alessandro Giannessi 6-4, 6-7 [3], 6-7 [4], 7-6 [4], 6-4 in Paris on Monday.
In the qualifying event at the French Open, the Croat had defeated Italian Gianluca Mager (6-7 [3], 6-2, 6-4), Argentinian Facundo Mena (6-3, 6-3) and Argentine Juan Ignacio Londero (7-6 [1], 6-1) to book his spot in the main draw.
Gojo, ranked No 223, will meet Serb Filip Krajinovic in the second round of the French Open.
