Roland-Garros: Alcaraz into his first Paris quarter-final, wins in straights against Khachanov

Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the No 6 seed, advanced to the quarter-finals of Roland-Garros for the first time by beating Russian Karen Khachanov, the No 21 seed, 6-1, 6-4, 6-4.

Alcaraz, ranked No 6, will face German Alexander Zverev, the No 3 seed, next.

The 19-year-old Spaniard won against Argentinian lucky loser Juan Ignacio Londero (6-4, 6-2, 6-0), Albert Ramos Vinolas (6-1, 6-7 [7], 5-7, 7-6 [2], 6-4) and American Sebastian Korda, the No 27 seed (6-4, 6-4, 6-2) in the previous rounds, while Khachanov, ranked No 25, won against Portuguese qualifier Nuno Borges (6-3, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4), Hugo Dellien (4-6, 6-4, 7-6 [1], 6-3) and No 10 seed Cameron Norrie (6-2, 7-5, 5-7, 6-4).
