‘Djokovic has 22 Grand Slams – I want 25!’ Mirra Andreeva’s quest continues at Roland-Garros
We already know how Mirra Andreeva feels about Andy Murray – now she has something to say about Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal
Mirra Andreeva’s unique press conferences are lighting up Roland-Garros, and the media got the chance to speak to her again after she beat Diane Parry 6-1, 6-2 to reach the third round.
This time, she revealed her very big career ambition – to reach the milestone of 25 Grand Slams.
“The dream? I know that Djokovic, he did 22 Grand Slams or 23, so I want to go until 25, if it will be possible. I don’t know.
“But I will just play. For now my goal is to win match by match, to win next match. Then if I win this match, to win next match again. That’s it. Just to win match by match.”
The 16-year-old added that her coach is not keen on “divas”, so her feet will be kept firmly on the ground.
“I will just be me. I will just be myself, and I’m sure if I will just do my thing, I will just, let’s say, stay on the ground. I will not go as a diva.”
And when it comes to the Big Three and picking a GOAT, she doesn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings.
“Roger [Federer], he [has] always been my idol. He’s always been my No. 1, but after Roland Garros 2022 when Rafa [Nadal], he won it, I don’t know why, but in my head everything is turned. Now Rafa and Roger, they’re in the first place, but I don’t want to offend Novak! So let’s say they’re three on the first places.”
