“I will always remember that I spent those years with the kindest, most generous, most positive and funniest guy” Coach Luthi on Federer
Luthi has been on the tour with Federer since 2007 and also led the Swiss team, including Federer, to the Davis Cup title in 2014

Severin Luthi, the long-time coach of Roger Federer, has penned a heart-warming message for the Swiss legend on Instagram, in which he talks about their journey over the past 15 years.
Luthi has been working with Federer since 2007 and also led the 20-time Grand Slam champion in the Swiss team that went on to win the Davis Cup in 2014.
Federer played his final match, a doubles encounter for Team Europe partnering Rafael Nadal, at the Laver Cup last week. That marked his first tournament since Wimbledon in 2021 following which he underwent a third knee surgery.
In the post, Luthi talks about how he will cherish the time they have spent together on the court as well as off the court, calling Federer “the kindest, most generous, most positive and funniest guy”.
“”It took me a while to figure out what I meant…,” Luthi wrote in the Instagram post. “The last few weeks have been moving, but what a path it has been. Flipping through my iPhone album reminds me of everything we’ve experienced together: Grand Slam victories, Davis Cup victory in Lille, Victory in Beijing at the Olympics, but also all the special moments we shared off the court: our holidays, weddings, birthdays, playing pranks to other team members on several continents and watching your incredible children grow up.”
“I will cherish these moments forever. It was admirable to see how you were also able to juggle so many things at once; your tennis, your friends, your company, your family, but above all with a smile on your face. You will continue to be an inspiration to so many people with the passion you had for the game. I continue to meet people all over the world that you inspire and it brings me a lot of happiness. I will always remember that I spent those years with the kindest, most generous, most positive and funniest guy. Finally, I love you and your Poili family you’ve always been there for me.”
