Seen in Miami: The Federer family and the Williams sisters captured in an historic photo representing 50 Grand Slam titles
Roger Federer and his family were photographed enjoying a family day out at the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday, alongside the Williams sisters
20-time Grand Slam champion and tennis icon Roger Federer spent Sunday at the Miami Grand Prix in Florida as part of a family day out, garnering much attention from social media, leading many to express their amazement at how much the four Federer children have grown up in recent years.
Photographers at the scene must have thought they hit the jackpot when Serena Williams and sister Venus also turned up at the prestigious race.
50 Grand Slams in one photograph
As well as capturing a family portrait of the six Federer family members, a photo was also taken of Serena, Venus and Roger. Capturing the winners of a scarcely believable 50 Grand Slam titles, the image will surely go down in history as an iconic shot of the three tennis hall-of-famers.
Since announcing his retirement from tennis last September, the former ATP World No. 1 has been enjoying the good life away from the competitive match court.
In an ongoing trip to the United States, Federer and his wife Mirka were high-profile guests at the prestigious Met Gala in New York, before travelling down to Florida to watch the Grand Prix in Miami with the whole family.
2009 US Open final, revisited
A touching moment between two rivals who adore each other – and are adored by the public: Juan Martin del Potro and Roger Federer.
What’s Next for Roger and Serena?
It has been rumoured that Federer will join the BBC this summer for the UK’s coverage of Wimbledon, although this has not yet been confirmed by either party.
Serena Williams, meanwhile, has recently announced the launch of her own multimedia production company, called 926 Productions and a second pregnancy.
While no longer the King and Queen of the match court, it appears both Federer and Serena remain as busy and ambitious as ever.
