New Mouratoglou Tennis Academy announced for Australia
Before the start of the Australian Open, a major announcement about a new tennis facility opening in the country
Patrick Mouratoglou, founder of Tennis Majors and creator of UTS Tour, will be opening a new Mouratoglou Tennis Academy – in Australia.
Mouratoglou Academy Australia will be part of the planned Cape Otway Road Australia (CORA) sport and wellness tourism destination located on a 220-hectare site on the Victorian Surf Coast, and will replicate Mouratoglou’s flagship facility in Nice on the French Riviera – where leading stars such as Holger Rune, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Coco Gauff and Alexei Popyrin have been training.
The Tennis Academy complex at CORA will comprise 48 courts, including 33 tennis courts, 15 other courts (padel, pickle and mini), a show court, and a clubhouse with gym and swimming facilities.
The academy, second in the world for Mouratoglou, who opened five centers overseas, will also link up with an Australian-accredited boarding school provider, and be able to offer approximately 200 places to tennis students, with the first school year expected to commence in 2027. It will also offer tennis camps to the Australian public, primarily during school holidays.
“This is a big move for our brand,” Mouratoglou said in a statement. “We have always loved Australia, a genuine ‘tennis nation’, and this partnership is an exciting development for the region, providing educational and career opportunities for young students as well as athletes.”
CORA’s co-founder Daryl Pelchen added, “Mouratoglou’s involvement illustrates the potency and relevance of the CORA project in a global context. Created to represent the best of Australia to the rest of the world, we are delighted to welcome Mouratoglou as an anchor tenant at CORA. With a shared vision for excellence, Mouratoglou Academy Australia at CORA will provide a unique destination to both identify and shape champions.”
