It’s a quick turnaround for Carlos Alcaraz and other tennis players who will be in Davis Cup action this week. The Davis Cup Finals Group stage takes place this week with Spain, Czechia, Australia and France bundled together in Group B in Valencia in what the Spaniard described as the ‘toughest group’ in the competition.

In an interview to the Davis Cup website, Alcaraz and his teammates – Pedro Martinez, Roberto Bautista Agut, Pablo Carreno Busta and Marcel Granollers – are ready for the challenge that lays ahead.

“Honestly, when the group came out, I thought, ‘Oh, ok we are going to sweat a lot if we want to qualify’. It is the toughest group in the Davis Cup, but you know I always say if you want to be the best, you have to beat the best. So, I think it helps us to be better, to practice better, to have the main goal to qualify with really tough countries. And here in Valencia, we have an advantage to other countries. In some points, I’m happy to have this group so we can be better,” the Spaniard said.

“The way the drivers approach the races is insane” – Alcaraz on his Formula One experience

Following his second-round exit at the US Open, Alcaraz took a quick pit stop in Monza to enjoy the Formula 1 action there before reaching Valencia.

Speaking about his F1 experience, Alcaraz said he would try to take inspiration from that experience when he approaches his next matches and tournaments.

“It was an amazing experience, honestly. I wanted to go to Formula One a long time ago but the tennis schedule doesn’t allow us to go to a lot of events. Obviously, after the US Open, it was a little disappointing for me. I tried to reset my mind as fast as I could… Once I could go to Formula One, I didn’t think too much about it. The way the drivers approach the races is insane. The way they are focused on every step of the warm-up, everything, it’s crazy. I tried to think about doing the same when I approach my match, my tournaments and for me, it was great to watch in real life.”
