It’s semi-final time at the IMG Future Stars

This Friday, April 26, the quarter-finals of the IMG Future Stars international tournament took place at the Tatoï club in Athens.

On the women’s side, many impressive performances were put forth. Particularly strong tennis was put on display by 11-year-old Croatian, Korana Barisic, who won her match 6-1, 6-1, and the Estonian Elizaveta Anikina, who, despite a difficult first set, won in the tie-break and qualified for the semi-final without having lost a single set in the tournament.

Tennis Majors

The latter will face Simona Novakova for a spot in the final. The young Croatian player will face the Chinese Ketong Guo who managed to win her match, after a fight of almost three hours and two tie-breaks against Aleksandra Karabanova of Russia.

As with the girls, some boys struck a big blows in the quarter-finals. Chinese Li Yanru, one of the tournament favorites, finished his match in just over an hour with a neat victory of 6-0, 6-2 against the Frenchman Arthur Poussin. In the semi-final Li will meet another favorite, the Swiss Jonas Waelti who also shone by taking out Camelot Carnello (USA) in straight sets.

After this sporting morning, the players, accompanied by their coaches and parents, were able to attend several educational workshops, including one on the management of social networks, an inevitable and unavoidable subject for these tennis prodigies.

Whether for the main draw or for the consolation, the rest of the competition will resume this Saturday, April 27.
