“I’m going to be a father!” Nadal confirms baby news

In the midst of his press conference confirming he intends to play both Wimbledon and the US Open, Rafael Nadal also confirmed a lovely piece of news – that he and his wife Maria Francisca Perello are expecting their first child.

“If things go well, I’m going to be a father,” he said. “You know that I’m very discreet about my personal life, for a simple reason: I’m covered enough [by the media] about my professional life. I’m looking for quietness for me and for people living with me. It’s our personality. So yes, that’s the way things are going.

“I don’t know how it will change my life because I didn’t experience it. From this standpoint, I’m not planning what it might change in my professional life.”

The couple got married in 2019, and have been together for over 15 years.
