Federer warms up for Wimbledon ceremony with Coldplay and Elton John
The eight-time Wimbledon champion will be back at the All England Club on Tuesday as he will be honoured in a special ceremony
Roger Federer will be back at the All England Club on Tuesday as the eight-time Wimbledon champion will be honoured in a special ceremony before Day 2 play begins. With the Swiss legend having hung up his racket last September, his lead up to Wimbledon has been quite different as he made his way to see two of the biggest music acts in concert over the weekend.
Federer made his way to watch British rock band Coldplay in Zurich where the 20-time Grand Slam champion went up on stage as the band played their hit song “Don’t Panic”.

During the concert, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin is seen welcoming the 41-year-old and introduced Federer as “an original band member who left the band and became the greatest tennis player of all time”.
As the band went on to sing ‘Don’t Panic’, Federer joined in by playing the shaker. During the song, Martin even asked the rest of the band to remain quiet and asked Federer to continue with his shaker solo, sending the crowd into a frenzy.

Over the weekend, Federer also caught pop legend Elton John, who is currently on the road with his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road The Final Tour”. The 74-year-old was at Zurich’s Hallenstadion and the Federers (Roger, wife Mirka and their kids) were in the audience to watch John play some of his biggest hits.
