Emma Raducanu crowned Action Woman of the Year
Yet another award for the teenager who took New York by storm at the 2021 US Open
US Open champion Emma Raducanu has been named as the BT Sport Action Woman of the Year for 2021.
The award – presented at a ceremony that celebrates the achievements of British and Irish female athletes – is in recognition of her incredible three weeks in New York when she became the only qualifier ever to lift the trophy in the Open Era.
The 19-year-old rose to public attention in the UK over the summer thanks to a series of good performances at Wimbledon, although she was forced to retire from her round of 16 match against Ajla Tomljanovic with breathing difficulties.
Since her Grand Slam win, she has featured on the covers of some of the most famous magazines in the world, including Vogue, and has also announced partnerships with brands including Tiffany and Dior.
She has recently announced a new coaching link-up with Torben Beltz, who has previously worked with players including Angelique Kerber.
Raducanu received the Action Woman award from former Great Britain hockey captain and Olympic gold medallist Kate Richardson-Walsh.
