Van de Zandschulp leads Netherlands against Australia in Davis Cup quarter-finals
The Dutch are trying to win the competition for the first time in their history
The Netherlands will be looking to the big-serving pair of Botic van de Zandschulp and Tim van Rijthoven as they take on Australia in the quarter-finals of the Davis Cup in Malaga on Tuesday.
World No 35 Van de Zandschulp reached the semi-finals at London’s Queen’s Club and then the fourth round at Wimbledon earlier this summer.
Van Rijthoven, now ranked 115, began the year ranked No 261 and had never won an ATP Tour match before he arrived in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, where he won five straight matches to take the title, beating Daniil Medvedev in the final.
Captained by former doubles star and top 20 singles player Paul Haarhuis, the Netherlands team is completed by Tallon Griekspoor (ranked 96), doubles world No 1 Wesley Koolhof and Matwe Middelkoop.
