Daniil Medvedev closed out Russia’s win over Ecuador in the Davis Cup – and gave his nation a fine chance of progressing from Group A.
Spain currently sit at the top of the group thanks to their own 3-0 win over the South Americans.
The world No 2 wrapped up the tie when he beat Emilio Gomez 6-0, 6-2 in an uncompromising display that lasted less than an hour.
It followed Andrey Rublev’s own win over Roberto Quiroz, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 – although his dropped set may prove to be crucial when it comes to calculating who gets to progress.
