Djokovic will play in Davis Cup, says team mate Krajinovic
Even as Novak Djokovic’s full schedule until the end of the season is still unknown, he is all but confirmed to play for Serbia in the Davis Cup
The world No 1 Novak Djokovic shall play in Davis Cup finals this year, his compatriot Filip Krajinovic confirmed in an interview with Blic. Davis Cup is due to be held November 25 to December 5, and Serbia is aiming to win its second crown, having been champions in 2010 as well.
Their chances will be boosted by having Novak Djokovic in the team. Djokovic, who still has not released his schedule for the rest of the season, had recently said that the Grand Slams and playing for his country were the biggest priorities in this phase of his career.
“I would like to use the next three tournaments to raise my game before the Davis Cup”, Krajinović told Serbian daily newspaper Blic, “We are going there with all the best players, so our goal is to lift the trophy, just like we did in 2010. Novak is with us, so we are surely not going there to lose. We made an agreement to play, all of us, we are eager to get that trophy”.

In the group phase, Serbia will face Austria and Germany in Innsbruck, Austria with both Alexander Zverev and Dominic Thiem not appearing for their respective countries.
“Without them, it is clear that Germany and Austria are significantly weaker, and we have our best possible line-up. The world No 1 is on our side and we are going there to win. Usually, the success with the national team boosts our individual careers as well, so we are hoping that is going to be the case again now, before the 2022 season”.
The Serbian Davis Cup team, with Viktor Troicki as the captain, will get together in Belgrade four or five days before the trip to Innsbruck.
“We will see who plays what until the end of the year, but the plan is to get together and grow our team spirit even more. You know already that all of us are great friends”, Krajinovic said.
