Carreno Busta, Bautista Agut lead Spanish team sans Alcaraz and Nadal
Six-time champion Spain take on Croatia in the Davis Cup quarter-finals
This week, Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal signed off the 2022 season as the world’s top two players – marking the first time in the history of the ATP Tour that a country, other than the United States, has held the top two positions in the year-end rankings.
But both Alcaraz and Nadal are missing from the Davis Cup action this week. As a result, Pablo Carreno Busta and Roberto Bautista Agut will lead the Spanish charge as they face Croatia in the quarter-final round.
Carreno Busta, who has won his last seven singles matches in the Davis Cup, and Bautista Agut are joined by Albert Ramos-Vinolas, Pedro Martinez and Marcel Granollers.
Span has reached the semi-finals in three of the past four seasons and will be aiming to win their seventh title in the competition.
