Australia and US to clash in quarter-finals as draw confirmed for Davis Cup Final 8
Defending champions Italy will take on Argentina in their opening match
The draw for the Davis Cup Final 8 has been announced, with the final chapter of the event taking place in Malaga this November.
Last week saw the Netherlands, Germany, Canada, Italy, the United States, Australia, Spain and Argentina qualify for their spot in the Davis Cup quarter-finals.
Italy, Spain, the United States and Canada all finished top of their groups, and were given seeding ahead of the draw to ensure they wouldn’t face each other until the semi-finals at least.
Here is what the draw will look like now with the second-placed teams from the group stage added in:
- Italy v Argentina
- United States v Australia
- Germany v Canada
- Netherlands v Spain
The winner of Italy v Argentina will play the winner of USA v Australia for a spot in the final.
In the bottom of the draw, whoever advances out of Germany and Canada will have to take on the Netherlands or Spain in their next match.
The Davis Cup Final 8 takes place from November 19-24 at the Palacio de Deportes Jose Maria Martin Carpena in Malaga.
