Burgeoning rivalry between top two
It will be the latest encounter in their burgeoning rivalry. Djokovic beat Alcaraz in the semi-finals at Roland-Garros on his way to the title in June and the Spaniard gained revenge by beating him in the Wimbledon final the following month.
For Djokovic, it will be a return to Davis Cup competition with Serbia, after missing the competition in 2022. He led his country to victory in 2010. Captained by Victor Troicki, Djokovic is joined by Laslo Djere, Miomir Kecmanovic, Dusan Lajovic and Hamad Medjedovic.
Alcaraz will lead a Spain team which includes Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Roberto Bautista Agut and Marcel Granollers. The Czech Republic and Korea complete their group.
Tiafoe, Sinner, Shapovalov all in action
Americans Frances Tiafoe and Tommy Paul will lead their side against Croatia, Finland and the Netherlands in Group D while in Group A, holders Canada, led by Denis Shapovalov, will face an Italy side which includes Jannik Sinner, who won his first Masters 1000 title in Toronto on Sunday.
Australia, Greg Britain, France and Switzerland will complete in Group B, with the top two in each group progressing to the Davis Cup Finals in late November.
