Alcaraz beats Djokovic in three sets in exhibition match
The Spaniard beats Djokovic 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the Riyadh Season Tennis Cup in Saudi Arabia
In an exhibition match between the world’s top two players, world No 2 Carlos Alcaraz came from a set down to beat top-ranked Novak Djokovic in the Riyadh Season Tennis Cup in Saudi Arabia.
Djokovic won the first set 6-4 before the Spaniard bounced back to win the next two sets by the same scoreline and complete the 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the match held at the Kingdom Arena with many members of the Saudi royal family in attendance.
Djokovic and Alcaraz will now head to Australia to prepare for the Australian Open which begins in Melbourne on January 14th.
The Serb will represent his country in the United Cup mixed event while Alcaraz will begin his official season at the first Grand Slam of the season.
The pair have clashed five times on the official tour, with Djokovic holding a slim 3-2 edge over Alcaraz. Djokovic won three of their four clashes in 2023 and fans will be looking forward to the next chapter in their exciting rivalry Down Under.
