World No 1 Iga Swiatek begins her Olympic campaign in Paris against Romania’s Irina-Camelia Begu.
Either Nadia Podoroska or Diane Parry will lie in wait in the second round.
Coco Gauff, seeded second, will open her Olympics against Alja Tomljanovic, ranked 123rd in the world. She could face Donna Vekic in the third round, Maria Sakkari in the quarter-finals and Jasmine Paolini or Jessica Pegula in the last four.
Elena Rybakina has announced that she will not now compete in the Games in either singles or doubles. She was due to start against Jaqueline Cristian, ranked 61st in the world, before facing Naomi Osaka or Angelique Kerber, who is playing in her last tournament, in the second round.
Paolini and Mirra Andreeva, who met in the semi-finals of the last French Open, could meet in the second round.
