Diane Parry knew the task ahead of her was tough, despite a French crowd behind her, and the world No 1 Iga Swiatek proved how challenging she is on the Roland-Garros clay – handing out a 6-1, 6-1 beating in the second round of the Olympic Games.
It took an hour and 13 minutes to complete the job, with Parry trying to use all the tools at her disposal, including a slice backhand, but she could not make a dent in Swiatek’s game.
