Wimbledon : Safiullin renverse Cerundolo après un thriller en deux actes

Roman Safiullin semble être du genre à choisir ses tournois. Quart de finaliste l’an dernier, plus discret depuis, le Russe a resurgi cette année à Wimbledon en s’offrant un superbe et renversant succès au premier tour face à l’Argentin Francisco Cerundolo, tête de série n°26, qu’il a sorti 6-7 [5], 3-6, 7-5, 6-3, 6-4 pour ce qualifier pour le deuxième tour, ce mercredi.

Ce match “en retard” du premier tour avait été interrompu par la nuit mardi soir alors que Safiullin venait de revenir à deux sets partout, après avoir été mené deux sets à rien. Le 44e joueur mondial affrontera au deuxième tour le vainqueur d’un autre match interrompu entre David Goffin et Tomas Machac.
