The Swiss has been the biggest earner in tennis for 15 years but in 2020, he also became the highest-paid athlete in the world, according to Forbes. His $6 million prize money was dwarfed by his $100 million in endorsements from 13 companies, including Rolex, Credit Suisse and Japanese clothing firm Uniqlo, whom he joined in 2018 after spending almost his entire career with Nike.

An ever growing endorsement portfolio pushes the current world No 1 higher on this list. Djokovic, who won his ninth Australian Open title in February, now earns 72 percent of his income off the court from companies including Peugeot, Seiko, Lacoste and Asics and is closing in on a spot as one of the top 20 highest-paid athletes.

Rafael Nadal, $40 million

The king of clay isn't the king of cash on the ATP Tour, but he does just fine, thanks to deals with the likes of Nike, Babolat, Santander, KIA Motors and watchmaker Richard Mille. (Nadal's watch is worth $725,000). The Spaniard, who is now level with Roger Federer on a record 20 Grand Slam titles, earns 65 percent of his money off the court these days, Forbes says.
