Two titles in two weeks for Andy Murray, wins Nottingham Challenger – and is surprised by his kids
The grass court season has got off to the perfect start for the former world No 1
After a win in Surbiton last week, Andy Murray has backed it up – beating Arthur Cazaux 6-4, 6-4 to lift the crown in Nottingham as well.
“I’m obviously pumped and looking forward to a day’s rest tomorrow,” the former world No 1 said after picking up the trophy. “Hopefully I’ll get back home and see my kids tonight for Father’s Day.”
He was then interrupted by a shout from the crowd, “They’re here!” with his wife Kim and his four children all waving from the stands.
“My family have been unbelievably supportive of me continuing with my career when they could easily have told me to stop,” he added, “so I really appreciate them still supporting me and trying to get me to keep going.”

At Queen’s, he has been drawn to face seventh seed Alex de Minaur in the first round, and where he is due to team up with Cameron Norrie in the doubles.
Cazaux: Andy was just better than us this week
Cazaux too can take plenty from his first grass court event, where he came through qualifying and dropped only one set before the final.
“It was a big tournament for me – a long tournament!” he said afterwards. “It was my first pro tournament on grass – I liked it very much, it was a very good first experience. I enjoyed every moment on grass courts.”
And in an endearing aside, he added: “Big congrats to Andy, you were just better than us this week. Now we will focus on Wimbledon quali and hope to take my revenge!”
Murray returned the compliment: “He was brilliant. I didn’t think he’d played loads on grass, but his first tour event and coming through qualies to reach the final, I thought he played better and better as the match went on. I’m sure we’ll be seeing him a lot on the grass courts over the years.”
