Emma Raducanu says she is hoping to play for Britain at next month’s Billie Jean King Cup despite pulling out of next week’s Hong Kong Open due to injury.

The former US Open champion has been out of action since September 21, when she sprained ligaments in her foot at the Korea Open and announced her withdrawal from Hong Kong late on Tuesday night.

“Whilst my foot is making good progress, I need a little more time before I am match fit,” world No 55 Raducanu said. “I hope to be able to come back and play in this tournament in the future. In the meantime, I am doing what I can to be ready for BKJC.”

Raducanu has made her way up the rankings in 2024, going 20-13 on the year. She has reached one semi-final, three quarter-finals and made the last 16 at Wimbledon.

The BJK Cup takes place in Malaga from Nov 13-20.
