Emma Raducanu and Katie Boulter inspired Britain to a 2-0 win over Germany in the Billie Jean King Cup on Friday, a win that puts them through to the quarter-finals.

Raducanu beat Jule Niemeyer 6-4, 6-4 while Boulter completed the win with a dominant 6-1, 6-2 victory over Laura Siegemund. Britain will play defending champions Canada in the last eight on Sunday.

“I think I played some really good tennis today,” Raducanu said. “I haven’t played a match in a long time…so I’m very proud of how I regrouped and managed to close out in that final game. I’m very proud of myself but also the whole team.”

Swiatek seals win for Poland over Spain

Iga Swiatek dug deep to give Poland a 2-0 victory over Spain, her 6-3 6-7(5) 6-1 win over Paula Badosa sealing the win after Magda Linette had outlasted Sara Soribes Tormo 7-6(6) 2-6 6-4 in an epic opening match. which lasted three hours, 51 minutes.
