Symptom-free Shapovalov says he will surely play Australian Open

World No 14 Denis Shapovalov says that he is not experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 any longer and will surely play the Australian Open, which kicks off in Melbourne on January 17. The Canadian made the comments during a Q&A session with fans on his Twitter account.
One of his fans posed the question about his participation in the first Grand Slam of 2022 to Shapovalov: “Is there a slight chance that you may play at Australian Open? Wishing you a speed recovery.” To that, he responded, “For sure I will. Thanks!”
When asked by a fan how he was feeling and how his quarantine experience was, the Canadian responded, “I’m feeling good thanks! It’s alright, a bit boring I must say.” Shapovalov also tweeted, “Good thanks! I’ve got no symptoms anymore” in response to another question on his health.

The Canadian was among the players associated with the Mubadala World Tennis Championships who had tested positive for COVID-19. Other players related to the event who had tested positive include Rafael Nadal, Andrey Rublev, Nadal’s coaches Carlos Moya and Marc Lopez, Belinda Bencic, Ons Jabeur and Emma Raducanu.
