Musetti outlasts Bonzi for first Australian Open win

Italian Lorenzo Musetti, the No 25 seed, won against Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi 7-6 (3), 7-6 (4), 4-6, 6-2 to reach the second round of the Australian Open at Melbourne Park on Monday night.

The former Australian Open junior champion entered this year’s event with an 0-2 main draw record in Melbourne, and a 3-5 overall record at hard court Slams, but he found his way through a tight contest, taking the first two sets in tiebreakers, and rebounding from the loss of the third set to close out the contest in three hours and 34 minutes.
