Reigning Wimbledon champion Barbara Krejcikova won’t play in the 2025 Australian Open due to a back injury. She confirmed the same on Sunday (January 5).

Consequently, Krejcikova, the world No 10, will drop 430 ranking points she earned by reaching the quarter-finals in Melbourne last year.

“Hi everyone, I wanted to share a quick update regarding my withdrawal from the Australian Open,” Krejcikova wrote on X (formerly Twitter). Unfortunately, my back injury, which troubled me at the end of last season, is still not fully healed. It’s really disappointing because I love playing in Melbourne and have such great memories from reaching the quarterfinals last year.”
