Australian Open: Mmoh’s dream run is over
Michael Mmoh’s run in Melbourne has ended, due to JJ Wolf (6-4, 6-1, 6-2) but what a run it was!
J.J. Wolf broke loser Michael Mmoh’s dream run on Saturday, in straight sets (6-4, 6-1, 6-2) to advance to the last 16 of the Australian Open at Melbourne Park on Saturday night. Wolf (24yo) and Mmoh (25yo) had never faced each other on the Tour before that match but had played against each other twice at the Challenger level with Wolf winning both times. It will be Wolf’s first time in the fourth round of a Grand Slam, after getting twice to the third round (US Open 2020 and 2021).
Mmoh, ranked No 107, had a big run here coming from being a lucky loser to producing a stunning comeback to beat Frenchman Laurent Lokoli (4-6, 2-6, 7-6 (7), 6-4, 6-2) and then upsetting German Alexander Zverev, the No 12 seed (6-7 (1), 6-4, 6-3, 6-2) in the previous rounds.
