Australian Open: Sinner breezes into third round
Jannik Sinner defeated Jesper De Jong 6-2, 6-2, 6-2 on Wednesday night. He’ll face the winner of the match between Colombian Daniel Elahi Galan and Argentinian Sebastian Baez, the No 26 seed, in the next round.
Italian Jannik Sinner, the No 4 seed, won against Dutch qualifier Jesper De Jong 6-2, 6-2, 6-2 to move into the third round of the Australian Open at Melbourne Park on Wednesday night.
Sinner, ranked No 4, will face the winner of the match between Colombian Daniel Elahi Galan and Argentinian Sebastian Baez, the No 26 seed, next.
Ahead of his victory, the 22-year-old Italian defeated Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp (6-4, 7-5, 6-3).
De Jong, ranked No 161, edged out Argentinian Pedro Cachin (4-6, 6-2, 6-3, 6-4) in the previous round.
